Overview

Boardly is an AI-powered exam prep platform built to help nursing students prepare for board-style exams such as NCLEX-RN, NCLEX-PN, and APRN certifications.

The goal of the Boardly web platform was to create a clean, trustworthy, and motivating web presence that:

  • introduces the product,

  • communicates its unique value, and

  • drives users to start their 7-day free trial of the app.

This wasn’t a redesign but a complete product inception: from defining the user experience, designing the brand visuals, and delivering developer-ready screens for launch.

🎯 Project Objective

  1. Establish a clear brand identity that appeals to nursing students.

  2. Design a website that explains how the app works and why it matters.

  3. Drive conversions to app download or free trial signup.

  4. Maintain a visual connection to healthcare professionalism — clean, calm, and credible.

💡 Design Process

1. Research & Strategy

I conducted a quick competitive analysis (UWorld, SimpleNursing, BoardVitals) and interviews with three nursing students.

Insights:

  • Students wanted clarity, not complexity.

  • They valued platforms that gave rationales and weak area feedback.

  • Visual overload was a common turn-off.

2. Information Architecture

Focused on scannable content and conversion:

Home → Features → Testimonials → Pricing → FAQ → Start Free Trial

3. Wireframes

Started with low-fidelity layouts emphasizing scroll rhythm: short headlines, simple CTAs, strong visual cues.

4. Visual Design

  • Colors: Indigo + Teal (trust + energy)

  • Typography: DM Sans (approachable)

  • Imagery: Real nursing environments, calm, confident faces.

  • CTAs: Clear and motivating “Start Free Trial” and “Explore Features.”

💬 Reflection

This project was about trust and simplicity, building a visual story encouraging nursing students to feel capable and supported.

Instead of selling features, the design guided them toward confidence and a clear first step: starting their free trial.

Key Skills

  • Product Positioning through UX

  • Information Architecture & Copy Strategy

  • Visual Identity Design
